How do you discipline your kids without losing your cool?

Post by Choccodee39 »

Never discipline your children when you're beyond furious at their actions. Stop their behavior by putting them in a time out. Once you have calm down you can talk to your children about their behavior and advise them of what their discipline will be. How would you discipline a child without losing your cool?

Taking a step back to calm down is crucial. Setting clear expectations, using 'I' statements, and letting them know the consequences of their actions can help discipline them without losing your cool.

Call a time out allow child and yourself to calm down first. Then come back to address and handle disciplinary actions at that point and time. Communicate the behavior that you didn't like and express it will not be tolerated. If it happens again it will be handled in a fashion you or myself will not like. I love you and do you understand me. Huh it out and keep it moving in love.

Always take a step back, and try to calm down before you discipline your children. If you need to, go to the restroom to cool off a bit before you come back and figure out which punishment you want to give to your children. My dad always spanked me as a kid, I don't advise that myself though.
