Sharing advice with friends

Friend's should be able to share certain matters with each other. Although I feel we all share what we want to share depending what it is that's being shared. However sometimes it's not always wise to give advice on every subject. You can loose friends by advising them on matters that may cause permanent damage. I found just listening rather than giving advice goes a long way. Some matters friends have to work out on their own. What do you think about giving advice to friends? What do you think friends should or shouldn't give advice about? Do you think it should not be given in certain instances?
